Augusta Curiel de Penalver

The mother of Matilde and Umberto. She is well kept woman, still beautiful and elegant. She refused a true love in youth to marry a rich military aristocrat who was much more senior, than she was. She is conservative, authoritative and ostensibly obedient with the husband, but always achieves her purposes. She loves her children and always does what is better for them, but from her point of view. She is patient with Umberto, but is strict and uncompromising with Matilde. For Augusta the most important is a prestige of the family which is kept due to a good economic situation, and nothing will stop her to support it.
