The daughter of the manager in a manor of Manuel. She is brought up and educated: she is able to read, write and make some papers, and she does it so well, that after her father's death, Manuel appoints her as a manager. Despite of the excellent education and external appeal, Antonia can not be married well because of her social position, but in relation with Manuel she cherishs hope, because even he is rich, but he was born illegitimate and it could pull them together. Manuel communicates with Antonia friendly, and this attachment which she feels to him develops into a mad passion. She is awfully angry, when Manuel marries Matilde and uses all efforts to separate them, incited by Damiana, an old grandmother. When Manuel expels Matilde from the manor, convinced that she was a lover of Adolfo, Antonia becomes his mistress. Soon their relations finish, as he comes back to Matilde. Then Antonia rushes between humility and revenge.
