The son of a provided family which was overtaken with ruin. He studies in a Military College. He is conservative, it is not because of the belief, but because of submission to military laws. He passionately falls in love with Matilde and refuses to drop with her even knowing, that the family will be against their relations. Using authority and money, Matilde's brother and mother achieve to put him to prison, but Adolfo always is ready to fight for what he loves, and he runs from the prison. Adolfo looks for Matilde which also is a victim of deceit and lie, and was compelled to marry Manuel. Adolfo appears in a manor of Manuel under the other name to take away his beloved, but she refuses because of doubts and prejudices. Having known Manuel, Adolfo accepts him as a noble, magnanimous and brave man. He manages to feel respect for the contender, but even so he does not refuses to take Matilde away from him: his love to Matilde is so great, that he is ready to give his life for her.
