The story is:
Paulina Martinez, very kind and nice girl lives in Cancun. She lives with her mother
in a little hut on the shore of the Mexican gulf. Once, she finds out that her mother
is mortally ill. She gives up her studies and gets a job at a local, fashionable club,
but only as an office-cleaner in the W.C. Paulina has a fiance Osvaldo, whom she loves
very much. Once upon a time in the W.C. Paulina meets a tipsy woman and offers to help her.
When they come up to the mirror, they both notice their amazing likeness. The woman
tells Paulina that her name is Paola Bracho and that she is from a very rich family.
But she was bored with her family and that is why she went on a jorney, but now she
must come back. During their conversation, she offers Paulina to take her place in the
house of family Bracho for one year and promises her to pay well for it. But Paulina,
as an honest girl, refuses. Then Paola puts a very expensive bracelet into the Paulina's
bag and charges her with a theft. Later she tells Paulina tete-a-tete that she will get
into a prison if she doesn't agree with her plan. Paulina's mother dies and her fiance
Osvaldo leaves her without saying a word. Paulina sees that she doesn't have a choice
and with a sore heart yields Paola. Several days Paola teaches Paulina her manners and
habits, tells about family Bracho. Family Bracho is rather big. It consists of the head
of the family - grandmother Piedad, her grandson - Carlos Daniel
(Paola's husband), his children - Lisette and Carlitos, Carlos Daniel's cousin - Rodrigo,
his wife - Patricia, Carlos Daniel's foster-sister - Estefania, her husband - Willy, and
bad cousin of Carlos Daniel - Gema Duran Bracho. Paola phones Carlos Daniel and tells
him that she has decided to return home. She asks him to meet her at the airport. Paulina
goes to Mexico D.F and Paola flies to Europe with her elderly lover Alessandro Farrina.
Paulina appears in the house of the family Bracho at a very hard for the family moment.
The ceramic factory that belongs to the family is on the verge of bankruptcy and grandma
Piedad suffers from the alcoholism. Of course, nobody notices the substitution, though
everyone notices that "Paola" has changed. Paulina helps grandma Piedad to put an end to
hard drinking and saves the factory from the ruin
Gradually Paulina also realises that she has fallen in love with Carlos Daniel,
but their relationships get worse, because "Paola" doesn't allow him to approach
close to her. He thinks Paola has a lover and decides to divorce with her.
Soon real Paola returnes right at the moment, when Carlos Daniel finds out, that
the woman in their house is "an impostor". Paulina runs away and disappears. But later
she phones to find out how is Carlitos and grandma and Carlos ask her to return, as
Carlitos went away from the house to find her and disappeared, and Paola has gone
away again with her lover Douglas Maldonado. Paulina agrees and returns there, but
Carlos
blames her for everything. Only grandma Piedad protects Paulina.
Many things will happen with the heros
of this serial till its end. Paulina will know that Paola is her twin-sister and will
get to prison. Carlos Daniel will know what a person is Paola and what she will be able
to do against him. But the most important is that Paulina and Carlos Daniel will keep
their love and will be together in spite of everything. And how do all serials and stories
about love usually end? Right, with wedding. And "La usurpadora" is not an exception.
